After feeling these in the hand I have to report that they are quite gummy and flexible. Very soft top plate and flexible wing. Now you are able to sink your fingers into the disc for better grip and accuracy.

This flexibility has been known to help with the durability of the disc. It now has the ability to absorb impact and thus not be damaged as much when you hit objects at high speeds. Ok lets just say it is going to fly the same way it does even after hitting a tree very hard. It also tends to stay closer to the area of impact and not shoot off in the wrong direction for a long way as stiffer discs do. This can be helpful on tight wooded courses or short tunnel holes.

Field testing and tournament rounds have confirmed that this is a super straight flier that responds to the angle of release you give it. Meaning if you curve it to the left, it curves left. And if you curve it to the right, it curves right. Throw it straight and flat and it will finish on a straight flat line. Perfect Control! The disc basically does what you tell it in a consistant manner. Excellent choice for beginners and Expert Professionals, it will never harm your game to have a weapon of choice like this.

Players are always looking for an out-of-the box straight flyer. This is it. The Mako offers players dialed in precision that holds the line of release. Throw it flat, it goes straight, give it some angle and you can get it to go right or left. It works great for beginners with a friendly grip, good glide, and straight flights. It will also impress top players with its solid performance regardless of power. Throw it hard, it is not afraid. Throw it smooth, that works too. This is a great woods disc and works like a driver without the skip when it lands. The Mako is available in our premium Star plastic for durability and grip.

Flies straight and true! Will hold any line that you give it! The high glide means that if you miss, though, it will sail pass the basket. (Posted on 6/20/14)

Makos are great for sliding approach shots. The beadless rim feels great and keeps the disc from rolling too much (Posted on 12/4/12)

As straight of a mid as you are going to get. Holds any line you want and need. Glides well and the Star plastic means that it will continue to fly like that for a very long time. (Posted on 9/27/12)

I just got an ace on a 196ft hole with my mako. If that isn't proof that it works then i don't know what is. (Posted on 6/14/12)

Update: The later run Star Makos are increasingly domey and nowhere near as reliable as the 1st runs. I have two 1st runs which are a fixture in my bag - love 'em. A couple of friends have later run Makos which are awful in comparison. I'll only be buying 1st runs. (Posted on 3/28/12)

I use a 174g Mako. This thing flies super straight, especially for a beginner. I really like the overall feel of the disk and the flight pattern is great. (Posted on 3/28/12)

I recently bought a 1st run Star Mako, 180g. I am now searching the internet for more! It takes a little while to get your release angles sorted, but when you do this disc is unbelievably good. It truly does fly straight! I was initially skeptical, but am now a believer! I have been regularly hitting 5-10 foot gaps in heavily wooded parts of my course with this disc and watching it glide straight at the pin. In 180g the Mako has superb air brakes, typically dropping near the basket and rarely skipping. With reasonable speed and great glide this midrange easily extends out to 250-300 ft. LOVE IT! One of the best discs on the market, the mako flies perfectly straight. I mean no highspeed turn and no low speed fade. Perfectly straight from start to finish. Has great glide, and makes a great putter too. (Posted on 3/23/11)

The Star Mako is another great midrange disc. Easiest way to describe it would be that it is very similar to the Buzzz. HOWEVER, the star plastic makes the Mako grippier. Also, I'd say the Mako has a bit more glide and very little fade at all. It pretty much will go straight at whatever you throw to and float down to that spot. It is a great disc, but I'd have to say I prefer the Buzzz; However, I've been throwing the Buzzz longer and am more comfortable with it. (Posted on 11/2/10)

I play with a 174g Mako. It is my go to midrange disc. I also use a classic Roc (r-pro) and Cobra (DX). I love the feel of the star plastic. (Posted on 7/1/10)

I got the Mako two days ago and it has quickly become my go to midrange. Awesome straight flight that doesn't fade much unless it is thrown fairly high. Goes left, right, and center depending on the release angle. (Posted on 5/23/10)
