The Champion Katana - one of the fastest understable discs in the world.

This Ultra-Longrange Driver will be, for many, the furthest flying disc to date.  An oversized wing and the propensity to turn over with a slower armspeed will give this disc the ability to do what no other disc has done to date - give the average player the ability to throw a screaming shot with some hyzer angle, high off the ground, while gradually turning over and then turning back.  This flight pattern spends the most time in the air and thus has the potential to fly farther than any other shot.  The incredible glide at the end of the flight extends its distance potential even further with the right snap.

Surprisingly the Champion version starts off fairly stable - straight for about 75% of the flight with a pretty good fade over the last 25%.  There are some flatter models out there that aren`t quite a s stable out of the box.  Request your preference in the comment box at checkout.

In Champion Plastic this disc will be durable and long lasting, allowing players plenty of time to learn the flight and the opportunity to throw those long bombing anhyzer shots - just like the Big Boys!

Update:

After feild testing the Katana in a variety of weights and colors we know this much for sure:

This will be the farthest flying disc for a large percentage of the general public - those who had had trouble getting the armspeed required for those big drives over 350 feet.

It is medium stable with the propensity to turnover slowly during flight but not too drastically.

It is an excellent downwind disc that won`t drop off prematurely before finishing out its flight.

Most are soft on top and slighty overstable towards the end of the flight.  The domey ones are a little more stable and require a little more armspeed.

A bit more stable and a little less glide than the Pro Katana. Still great turnover max distance driver. Flight will not change much over its lifespan because of the durable Star Plastic. (Posted on 9/28/12)

This is my go to driver. Very easy to get that big distance that your looking for. Not for beginners. Def need to get that snap on it, otherwise you will be disappointed with the distance. I will soon have a couple of these in my bag. (Posted on 5/20/12)

The Star Katana is excellent for long deep throws and for make a necessary 'S' around obstacles as the disc turns and then breaks when thrown correctly. I swear by this disc. (Posted on 4/14/12)

not a beginner friendly, needs a little snap with a smooth follow throw, not to be slammed like nuke os or xcaliber...hit it with 8-10 degree and get the furthest S shot ever...i find lighter wieghts fly straighter, so i stick with a max weight (Posted on 12/1/11)

Save your money and get the pro version, its a much better disc. The star version is much more overstable and not beginner friendly. Handles a wind nicely though. (Posted on 3/23/11)

I can bomb this disc. It will s curve great and go farther then anything i can throw. It is a little wobbly and control can be an issue but it throws very far. (Posted on 1/23/11)

I have only been playing for about 9 months. When I started and up until about 2 months ago I was timid about throwing the Katana. I didn't really think I had the arm to throw it. However, after trying someones I had to have one. Now I actually have two; one at 164 and the other at 171. This disc is extremely easy to throw with hyzer or anhyzer. It is my go to disc for not only distance, but a great skip at the end to get closer to the basket. (Posted on 1/21/11)

I had a chance to throw a friend's and this katana handled more differently than I thought would happen. Even as high speed of a disc this is, I could hyzer flip it into a straight (I mean VERY straight) line for the majority of its flight. However, this happened about fifty percent of the times I threw it. It seemed very unpredictable at times. Still though...it flew far fast. I enjoy it. (Posted on 1/16/11)

Not as beginner friendly as the Pro version, but good if you are looking for a more stable Katana that can handle more power. Mine didn't really flip at all when new, and it weighed 166 grams. My advice for beginners with this disc, throw it against the tee a couple of times. I did that and I was able to bomb it over 400 feet. (Posted on 11/17/10)

I remember seeing a friend of mine with a first run Pro Katana and wishing that I could own one because it flew for days. When I got my chance to purchase one, only Star Katanas were available. In my head, I thought: "Sweet! I get Katana that with last longer." While this has proven to be true, the flight characteristics of the Star Katana are completely different than the first run pro version. The disc diameter is even different. I am not really sure what happened in the crossover production from Pro plastic to Star, but there was a huge disconnect. My Katana remains in my trunk, hoping to find a person who will throw it. The disc is very stable (or even overstable), and it is near impossible to flip. I wish I was my friend (the proud owner of a first run Pro Katana). (Posted on 9/5/10)

While I normally prefer star plastic, the pro version of this disc flies further and more consistent for me. The Star Katana flies similarly to a Wraith, with a harder heiser on the backend. (Posted on 8/13/10)
Robert Utterback Review by Robert Utterback
Product Rating
The katana feels like a very flat boss. Normally flat discs are able to fly very low to the ground for me. The katana however didn't do that very well. Because of its significant high speed turn, it kind of bails out to the right before it gets the chance to go where you want it to. So it is not great for low ceiling drives. In the open however this thing will take off and go forever given enough height. (Posted on 8/2/10)
