The River is a fairway Driver with amazing glide - the ability of the disc to stay aloft in the air before fading out towards the ground.  With glide comes distance.  And the River does this amazingly well for a disc that will not be thrown that hard.  Nice medium stability enables a controlled straight shot delivered with pinpoint accuracy.  If you need to back off the torque and concentrate on landing near the pin and avoiding obstacles along the way, the River is an excellent tool.
More from Latitude64 -

River has taken the market by storm and is a disc with GLIDE. It´s easy to throw and fits most player’s power and skill levels. River is a fairway control driver and while it´s not the fastest disc we have made, and doesn’t have the widest wing ever made, it is a disc for accurate driving and good control. With small fade and amazing glide, you can really let it fly on those big anhyzer curves.

I had been using a gold line river for my straight down the middle fairway drives and my longer anhyzer upshots because it was so easy to release and went pretty far with little effort. Eventually, that disc became too understable for me, either because my form improved or because it started to break in. So once I lost it, I opted to give this guy a try.And it is exactly as I expected. I would say the opto River flies almost exactly like a fresh new gold line river, so if you want one who's flight wont' change over time, then this is your guy. that being said, it is incredibly straight with low/little power in your throw, and understable with a lot of power. Regardless of the speed at which you throw, you will likely not have a skip, which makes it great for very touchy placement shots. If you are a less than powerful golfer, go with the gold line, and if you are average to above average in power, go with Opto. If you already have a gold line one, think of upgrading down the line to the Opto version. (Posted on 1/15/14)

One of the farthest gliding fairway speed drivers out there. When thrown hard enough, it will have a smooth turn and fade and seem to carry forever. (Posted on 10/2/12)

Holy freakin' glide! Probably the best feel I've know as far as a disc goes. Like a leopard with a jetpack! Just got it and I am loving it. Can't control driver with a little extra hovering ability. Really fun to throw. Great beginner disc too. (Posted on 6/14/12)

This disc really does live up to it's 7 Glide. It hangs right there with long range discs. It makes a great disc for beginners and pro's and works great when you need a steady shot, like a tunnel shot etc... I think everyone will find a need for this disc in their bag, you can't go wrong. Good disc. Easy to throw and very reliable. Great accuracy but not the best distance. A good disc for beginners. (Posted on 3/23/11)
