Disc-O Golfer ABC Plastic is similar to Champion or Elite Z, but the Putters are more like DX or Pro-D plastic. Test Flights Soon!!! Sep. 9, 2010, 4:23pm |
GolferJ 2 questions. 1) What type of plastic(s?) are the ABC discs comparable to. and 2) How do they perform? Sep. 9, 2010, 3:41pm |
DG_Mike_TX Are the ABC Disc prices being posted? Want to try out the gamma ray, mission, and money putter. Sep. 8, 2010, 2:04pm |
JustinJ Thanks for the info, i appriciate it Sep. 8, 2010, 12:28pm |
Cody thanks joe! I really appreciate you taking the time and effort to give me the answer about the star destroyers! Great stuff! Sep. 8, 2010, 11:37am |
Joe G 5740 So, for those who`ve never tried a 1st run disc, when they finally do it is likely to be a surprise how sweet it flies. For those who have thrown them it is hard to find anything to compare it to. That`s why they are so sought after. Not to say that the other runs aren`t great - I throw them myself - just that the 1st runs are usually the best. Sort of like comparing a tasty New York Strip to a Filet Mignon - one is delicious, but the other is heavenly Sep. 8, 2010, 11:18am |
Joe G 5740 Over time, as they run 1,000s of discs through the mold, the mold begins to slowly wear out - basically, the molecules are being stripped away, so each subsequent run actually gets ever so slightly fatter. This makes the disc slower with slightly different flight characteristics. Sep. 8, 2010, 11:13am |
Joe G 5740 1st run discs, especially highly regarded models, get reall expensive over time because many times they are the best high-production run of the disc. This is when the new mold is closest to its "virgin" state. Sep. 8, 2010, 11:09am |
Joe G 5740 Great question Cody! If you notice, almost all 1st runs are more expensive as time goes by, and the reason is technical in nature. Sep. 8, 2010, 11:06am |
Disc-O Golf ION Putters are PDGA Approved Sep. 8, 2010, 10:55am |
megadomus are the ions pdga approved? Sep. 8, 2010, 10:01am |
cody joe, why are the 1st run star destroyers going for so much? are they better than the regular run star destroyers? thanks, bro! Sep. 8, 2010, 9:44am |
Joe G 5740 JustinJ - it is impossible to make the Boss or Destroyer any lighter than about 165 grams due to the size of the wing - the wing is so big that it doesn`t leave enough plastic left over to make it across the top-plate of the disc. So the top-plate ends up lumpy or concave or maybe even holes in it. The only plastics that will come out of the mold clean are DX and R-Pro. Sep. 8, 2010, 9:25am |
JustinJ Thanks for the info! I´d like to find some CFR or star plastic if possible Sep. 8, 2010, 8:26am |
CDGS @JustinJ I´ve been really impressed with the new R-Pro Boss 133g it floats in water which doesnt matter really to me but to see an overstable driver out on the market that floats opens up the D game to ppl who only throw floaters, the plastic is way more durable then you might think and flies a mile with ease, as far as lite Destroyers we have some 150g DX Destroyers that just bomb also and is made of the standard DX plastic....
