The XD is our Editor`s Pick for best straight to turnover long approach disc. It works best in the 180-240 foot range. They start off just a tad stable and can be used for slight hyzer upshots but break in quickly to become very straight. Later in their lifespan they become a great turnover approach disc. Some players use these as a fast low-profile putter. But it`s real strengths come from the fact that it doesn`t deviate a whole lot off of its flight path(low error ratio-high percentage of success-even on bad releases) and it has the best brakes in the business for straight and turnover upshots. For stable upshots, try the DX Rhyno. The XD tends to come in 2 different plastics - stiff DX and softer putter plastic. We recommend the stiff for stability and durability. We recommend the soft if you want this disc to break-in and turnover quick. Either way, this disc does the job well. If you want a stable version of this, get the CFR Star XD. If you want a similar disc in "Candy" plastic, get the Discraft Elite Z Breeze. Many colors. 165-175 grams.

A little disc history: the XD was originally designed as Innova`s follow-up to the Aviar and was intended to be it`s long-distance cousin. It was originally called the Aviar XD and the XD stood for extra distance. And back then, in the mid-80`s, it was the distance king. It`s been reported that when players first started getting them they were THE MAN on the course. Something akin to how players today feel about the Wraith or the Destroyer. Now its just a humble upshot disc. Chew on that for a while.

This is one of the best putters I have ever used. Very straight and easy to throw. Let a friend of mine throw it a few times cause he was tired of his putter, and now he is getting one of these. (Posted on 7/3/12)

One of the originals from Innova. A Classic With a bead. Great disc for beginners. Turns into a nice hyzer flip disc when it gets worn in. (Posted on 3/16/12)

Classic disc! Very useful for approach shots. This disc is cheap and can be used for pretty much anything inside 250. Will hold the line you put it on, however it is a tad understable so it will turnover for the farther approaches. Great for anhyzer shots.Review: Approach putterGreat for those who like the aviar but want distancePutter gripLow profileClassic (Posted on 11/7/11)

This disc is perfect for the 200 foot straight low shot. Regardless of how much extra power you happen to give it, it seems to stay on the height you intended. Very forgiving for those times when you yank it or release a bit early, it still tends to leave you with a putt. Excellent upshot disc when you need to save par and you are still 200 out. Try running the chains with this disc and see what I am talking about. Bonus:Excellent putter for high winds also! (Posted on 3/23/08)
