Now at a lower price, every true pro keeps his discs sanded smooth for superior flight performance.
You may need this in your disc golf bag for that time your disc hits cement, rocks, signs, asphalt or trees.
Every pro I compete with has a sanding device of some kind in his bag during competition...sometimes discs need to be repaired "on the fly" when they hit the wrong thing!
Keep them as smooth as possible for the greatest flight and glide. Adds performance to old discs that are not smooth...try it and see!
Here is how the rule reads in the PDGA Official Rule Book...
802.01 Discs Used in Play
C. Players may not make post-production modification of discs which alter their original flight characteristics.
This rule does not forbid inevitable wear and tear from usage during play or the moderate sanding of discs to smooth molding imperfections or scrape marks.
Discs excessively sanded or painted with a material of detectable thickness are illegal. See sections 802.01 D, E and F.
