Not sure what you mean by regular FireBird but a 12X is Champion plastic. If you have a Champion FireBird with no 12X stamp on it then it is just a different stamp - they are otherwise the same aside from which run they come from.

Hey Tony what course are you looking for - Cliff Stephens in Clearwater - its half mile north of Drew St. and Fairwood Ave. Parking is on the right just before the railroad trax.

After about three years of throwing a Z Buzzz and having great success with it, I decided I wanted something a little more overstable to complement it. My first throw with a Wasp felt like I'd been throwing it for the same number of years. It's definitely the Adam that gave up its bead to the Buzzz's Eve. Knowing it was more overstable all I did was plan for it. The glide's the same, as is the feel.
The Wasp has really become the workhorse of my trifecta of Discraft mids (Drone, Impact, Wasp). This disc has become such an asset that, when I realized I wasn't really throwing it anymore, I took the Buzzz out of my bag and haven't looked back since. The only thing I tried to change about my Z was to replace it with an ESP because I liked the feel of the plastic a tad bit better but found it to be too unpredictable. I moved back to the Z and couldn't be happier. It is more versatile for me than the Buzzz. It is less squirrely at higher power, resists turn better and actually flies longer than my Buzzz despite fading harder. Despite being rated as +1.5 it even will hold a low speed anhyzer line better than my 0 rated Impact.
I know that Discraft has been discontinuing some Wasp plastic choices recently. If they discontinue it in Elite Z, I will be lost in finding a replacement. If the Buzzz is too squirrely for you at full power, try a Z Wasp. You can thank me later...
